Hi Paul,
See attached. This is a matriarch, smart old girl. Hunted a new spot in Chester area yesterday. Laid out Tonquin scent trails and 2 scent bombs. This doe came in with a yearling. She caught wind of the Tonquin, started lip curling and never left. She loved it. Shot her at 15 yards while she was sniffing a scent bomb. That was the last thing she did. The main point I stress to other hunters when using scents is deer presence. Many think you simply lay this out and deer come running from miles away. I tell them the obvious ….. you need deer in the area for scent to work. Doesn’t matter what scent you are using. They have to be there to smell it. The drastic difference is when deer smell your scents / lures, hey lock up for the shot. They make the effort to check the source of the scent. Dead deer, like this matriarch, don’t lie.
